Sabugueiro is a small tourist village, 1,100 meters above sea level, located halfway between Seia and the highest point of Serra da Estrela, and is known as the highest village in Portugal .
At the end of the 19th century, at the beginning of scientifically organized excursions, Sabugueiro became a transit point , thanks to its location.
Once a shepherds' village, Sabugueiro is known for its natural resources, including waterfalls , of which the stunning Fervença waterfall, which falls into the Ribeira do Covão do Urso, is a highlight.
A village located in the lower valleys of the mountain range, from where you can see the steep hills and panoramic views of unique vegetation , inviting you to take long walks and enjoy nature discoveries.
Walking through the village, visitors can enter the museum space next to the community oven , see the water mills , enter the main church and in one of the many local restaurants, enjoy the best flavors of regional cuisine .
